Customer service was amazing the food not so amazing I ordered kid pasta the sauce taste a bit sweet. The chicken ceased salad was a little warm wasn't too cold. I love the how there was a outside patio to eat. Our waiter was amazing she kept checking on us to see how everything was.

If we could have given zero stars, we would have. I've been to this restaurant a good handful of times over twenty years and it's always been packed and more importantly, always had great food and service. Maybe the place change hands because oh my God, that was the worst experience ever. First, the hostess is seriously costing this place hundreds of dollars. And because we were sitting right next to the front we heard her every word. The entire time we sat waiting for our food (probably 30 minutes for a burger and two eggs) she turned people away, telling them the kitchen is backed up and they'll likely have to wait 20 minutes to give their order. She turned away no less than 50 people in the hour we were there. She did this while at least 6-8 tables sat empty and servers were sitting around with not a lot of work to do. And yet still the food took forever and I had to ask three times for a refill on my coffee. Hopefully the owner reads the yelp reviews because they need new management pronto! Second, and more importantly, the food was absolutely terrible. My two eggs were fine but the bacon left a lot to be desired and my toasted English muffin never saw a toaster. My husbands lunch was disgusting. It even looked disgusting. How do you screw up a cheeseburger and fries? The burger was on a stale bun, the actual meat was rubbery, the cheese looked old and the fries were raw. I would never go back to this place, ever.

Disgusting...I'm sorry, but there is no other way to describe the food in this place. My friend and I wandered into this "restaurant"--I use the term loosely--while looking for a salad in Lake Geneva. Turns out finding a decent salad in Lake Geneva is like finding Valentino in a TJ Maxx--not an easy feat. The menu posted outside the restaurant listed a few salad options at around $10 each. We should have ran in the opposite direction when we noticed the restaurant was completely deserted without a single patron in sight, but I REALLY wanted that salad. I ordered the Caesar salad because you can't do a Caesar salad wrong. It's just lettuce. Well I stand corrected. First of all, the salad was definitely the size of a $2.99 side salad. Secondly, the lettuce was wilted and soaking in dressing as it had clearly been sitting around for a while. There was also some diced up egg in the salad which further enhanced the odd flavor. Surrounding the lettuce were deep fried pita chips as well. I should have known better than to have finished the thing but I was so damn hungry. This place has definitely earned its rating. Do not go here. You are better off flushing your money down the toilet. Atleast that way, you won't feel ill after. Never again.

I don't mind pricey food, as long as you are getting what you are paying for. Well that was not the case here My husband and I ordered a gyro. It was $10 and it included soup. Soup was blah. Then our gyro comes. Its pita with 4 pieces of meat. Looks like the onion and everything was just thrown on. Was not filling. My son got the kids spaghetti. Now he isn't usually picky but this was not good either for $6.50. It was noodles which seemed like hunt sauce thrown on top of noodles. My daughter got a $5 peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Pops were like $3.75 if I remember right. Suppose to be pepsi products and tasted like RC. will not be going there again.

Had a nice lunch here while on vacation. Service was average, food was good. I had a gyro and it had a ton of meat and the flavor was great. Solid option for an inexpensive lunch. Some people in our group had breakfast food and they said it was good, although they wanted more options rather than having to put together overpriced a la carte meals. The place is small, so either don't bring a crowd or get there before peak meal time. There is outside seating.

Cinnamon roll french toast was amazing. Would eat again. Quick service even though we had a party of eight. Food came quickly. Waitress did not mind when my friend could not make up his mind for 20 minutes.

Had a perfect skillet there with my girlfriends this past Sunday. Waitstaff wonderful, and kitchen did a great job filling our stomachs. We will be back for sure next time.

We had never been to Lake Geneva before and stopped in this restaurant on Saturday for lunch. Not many people in the restaurant and service was very slow both for taking our order and even slower for delivery. The waitresses had drinks on the table in the booth behind us and the owner was doing some kind of paperwork and sitting with another waitress in another booth in the restaurant. There seemed to be an office elevated in the back so I'm not sure why he had to do his work in the restaurant. My chicken sandwich was a big boneless chicken cutlet on bread. Not very appetizing looking. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich which he said had Russian dressing that tasted strange. There was not a lot of effort put into food presentation or quality. The staff was friendly but the restaurant is not run professionally. Customers do not want to see the staff drinking or the owner using a booth as an office. I would not recommend this restaurant.

The old neon sign is charming, so we thought we'd give it a shot. Walked in, to plenty of open tables on a Saturday night --never a good sign, especially for a place on the main drag of a busy resort town at the height of the vacation season. Still, we took a seat. Waters and menus were placed before us. After an interminable wait, with still no orders taken or acknowledgment from the staff (of whom there were plenty, standing around without anything to do), decided that, instead of flagging someone down, it would be fun to see just long we would remain under the radar. Used that time to check the place out on yelp, and after seeing the two-stars, decided we should probably just walk out, which we proceeded to do. Total elapsed time, just under 20 minutes. I blame myself for this, for not simply checking yelp before we went. You know, it's usually hyperbole when someone says a restaurant is the worst in town. But Lake Geneva is small enough, and I've been there enough times now that I can truly, honestly, say, Lake-Aire Restaurant is the worst restaurant in the city of Lake Geneva, and probably in the surrounding areas, too. Maybe in the whole state of Wisconsin, for real. Read the other reviews if you doubt that, and then just go eat somewhere else.

Went there for dinner last night, had broiled fish had no taste portion size was OK ,overpriced and not much selection for dinner. Won't be going back

I don't write many reviews but was so happy with my experience at this restaurant I wanted to share. Not only was the food delicious but the service was very friendly. My favorite breakfast spot in Lake Geneva by far! Can't wait to come back in the Summer for their sidewalk seating with such a perfect downtown location.

Ok where to start. The situation was a group of 9 hungry people who went to the Lake Geneva boat trip that are now very hungry. We took off looking for food and ended up at the Lake Aire restaurant. When we opened the door, and the restaurant was pretty full at noon. However, I don't know if it was God sent or not, there was a table that can seat 8 people perfectly. The lady by the door asked us how many we were just told us to have a seat at the long table without even taking us to the table. I understand that the restaurant is pretty small but really? She didn't have the common sense to even grab a chair and silver wares for the 9th person! Anyway the menu looks ok. No pictures to entice the customer or anything. Looking around, the decoration and the restaurant itself needs some serious updating and cleaning (noticed cobwebs on the gold plated lights.) I also had to look around the restaurant to remind myself it's name. Finally I found its name on the aprons of the servers (who did not have name tags, I don't know why.) We had paper placemats with the country "Greece" at the top right. They should have invested in placemats that would remind the customers where they are at. We ordered for our drinks and after the waitress brought our drinks, we placed our orders. I decided to order the porkchop with eggs. Have to pay extra for hashbrowns. Our orders were placed, then few minutes later our server came out to tell us that they were out of porkchops. How could you be out of porkchops at noon while the menu states that you serve breakfast all day? I opted and ordered their taco salad in shell. One my friends asked for the time on when they start serving dinner since she was interested in ordering one of the foods from the dinner section. Our waitress said she doesn't know. How could you not know? Before getting our food, I decided to use the restroom so I could wash my hands. Restroom was ok I guess. It has a working toilet, working sink, soap, hand dryer, and paper towel. The knob where you turn the toilet water off was seriously rusted and has a little bucket to catch whatever water leaks out from the knob. Food arrived and the first thing I noticed was the red taco shell that looks like it was inflated with air. Decided to take a bite and the shell was stale. The ground meat appeared dry and was cold. I noticed that I only have a small amount of salsa. How can I make my food a little appetizing with a small amount of salsa? They use romaine lettuce instead of the iceberg lettuce. I remember the menu stating that my taco salad came with sour cream but I did not see a drop of sour cream on my order. Took a sip of the lemonade and the lemonade tasted weird. Some of my friends who ordered their very over priced steak stated that their stake was dry, chewy, and unappetizing. The fries are pale and doesn't even taste fresh. While eating, I noticed that the other staff were so overwhelmed while the others were standing around at the eating area chit chatting. Some of the staff were getting their silverware ready in the common eating area. The owner, I guess that was the owner, was doing the bills in the eating area too. If I was not hungry and I did not have other people (8 mind you) with me, I would have left the place already. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. There are a lot of better restaurants near the Geneva Lake tour that are better, much cheaper and have faster service.

We ended up at Lake-Aire for breakfast by mistake on Saturday morning. We were looking for a different (much more highly rated) restaurant, but couldn't find it and were too hungry to go tromping around in the cold. The menu is pretty straight forward. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, nothing fancy. Eggs do not come with hash browns, you have to order those for $2.50 extra. The coffee was good and strong, no complaints there. The food was standard, not sub-par, but not outstanding. The biscuits and gravy were weird and terrible though, they had chunks of ham in them... is that a Wisconsin thing? It was okay... There are better breakfast places, though.

We went here for breakfast, but didn't even get to ordering before we walked out. The menu listed $4.25 for a single egg with toast and hash browns were extra. I am gf and normally love going for breakfast bc it's easy to find something I can eat, but here the menu was tiny, hard to find something that sounded good and overpriced. We also sat for about 5 minutes and hadn't been offered coffee before we walked out.

The business card says "fine dining," and while that's not really true, this little place is a great spot for lunch. Lake Aire has a decidedly old school diner feel with pies and desserts perched in a corner cooler, plastic menus, and sweet, friendly service. The prices were appropriate and my chicken sandwich and husbands club were spot on. There's even a collection of random suckers, desserts, and gummies for purchase to grab as your pay your bill on the way out.

For starters the food is frozen and the service is bad, my aunt that came from Mexico knows very little English, she asked (or try to) my brother for some information on the menu when the waitress rudely went in the middle of them and placed water on the table. The food was brought to us fast but it lacked taste, three of the six people from our party ordered a patty melt they claimed that the meat had a weird flavor and I decided to taste it myself and I found it decent but at the same time I like lunch food (still in high school) I ordered the steak sandwich the steak was chewy and had no taste, it lacked seasoning. The bread was stale and flavorless the only good thing from my order was the tater tots that I'm sure we're frozen. I'm definitely not coming here again specially after it saw the bill.

Tuna fish was really horrible. Poor quality. It was gross. It is not white tuna. Waitress said its chunk tuna. Tasted like the cheapest tuna. I don't know who their supplier is, but it was awful. Felt sick all afternoon. French fries were greasy. If you walk down to the lake you will see lots of other restaurants. Menu is also unappetizing. Ice tea was good though. If we knew there were restaurants by the lake we definitely would of skipped this . No matter how hungry you are skip this place and check out the restaurants by the lake with a great view.

RUN AWAY!!! This place is over priced, and the food is ghastly. From the outside it looks like a great little local restaurant that may have a rich history, and what not, but really it is a dive serving garbage food to unsuspecting tourist who stumble in after perusing the shops. It is a shame this place exists, it is a blight on a quaint little tourist town.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. You'll end up regretting it. On a romantic getaway weekend, this was the first restaurant we went to in Lake Geneva. It had a good looking sign and has been around a while, so we mistakenly thought it could be good. It's not. My husband ordered a 1/3rd pound burger that was not even as large as a McDonald's quarter pounder, and his bun was stale. There was a bunch of fried garbage that arrived on the plate with his tater tots. We're both being kind and are hoping that they were pieces of fried olives. As for me, I ordered a margarita that was advertised in the window, and they gave me orange juice and tequila. My southwest chicken salad was missing olives, and I was charged $0.50 extra for one ounce of salsa. This place stinks.

  • Dayna L.

Easy breakfast location with a little bit of everything and a very friendly waitress. The waffles with fresh fruit was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and the size of the plate. It is a little pricey but that is the reality of dining out in a tourist town. And yes previous reviews are accurate, a remodel is needed.

This is the shittest shit!!! The place makes awful food! Had an omlette and was reallllly disappointed. I would strongly advise going to the neighbor restaurant HARRYS CAFE AND PLACE! Their omlettes were cooked to order and were absoultely phenomenal so please go to harrys instead!

We stopped there for dinner tonight. We ordered but ended up asking for it to go. It was terribly hot in there, we asked if the ceiling fans could be put on. We were told they couldn't because they hadn't cleaned them yet. Well I don't know, a server telling me they hadn't cleaned, that didn't sit too well. Plus, the reason we asked was because it was so hot in there! As far as the menu... we looked at Hogs & Kisses across the street, a full rack of ribs was $19.98. At Lake Aire a half rack was $19.95. So I just ordered a reuben. But we were so uncomfortable we just asked for it to go. We went across the street to Hogs & Kisses. We'll eat the food we ordered at Lake Aire for lunch tomorrow at work. Do not recommend at all!

Despite the bad reviews we went here for dinner. The place was not busy so maybe that had something to do with it. The food was hot and decent. We ordered fried chicken grilled tilapia and fish and chips. All were hot and good. Prices high as usual for LG. Service was good...

With the marquee out front stating, charcoal boiled steak, seafood and chicken, I was thinking this was going to be a nice, sit in steakhouse. I also failed to look it up on Yelp before coming in... otherwise my expectations would have been set correctly from the start. This place is probably a better bet for breakfast, but for lunch, forget it. Don't come. The food is fair at best and is somewhat pricey. Not only that, they give you 10 oz glass of soda, which comes with only "one" refill... for the price of $3! As for the decor, it's very poor. I've seen more roomier & cleaner bathrooms on a small tug boat. I wouldn't come back in here again... there are other places within a block walking distance to try out.

Ordered the "Inferno Wings" for seven bucks. Got five measly dry wings that were obviously microwaved at the last minute. They threw in a plastic pouch of bleu cheese sauce that was terribly weak and even translucent. Don't go here.

  • Stina N.

The guys I was with seemed to this breakfast here was incredibly cheap. I actually thought it was over priced. Breakfasts didn't come with hash browns. You had to order them separately for an additional $2.50 (I think.) They were really good though. As others have menetioned, there's a decidedly retro feel to the place - or maybe it's just that old. We were seated quickly; the service was quick and friendly. The food was good. Basically, this is a great place if you're looking for a quick, basic diner style meal, but I wouldn't expect anything spectactular.

  • Breanna C.

Terrible service. We came over to Lake-Aire hoping to get a bite to eat before hitting the road. This review is only for the service, as we never even got our food. Admittedly, the place was busy, but what do they expect for a Sunday morning around 11am. Our party of two was seated by the hostess after a short wait and we placed our food and drink orders ( pancakes, club sandwich,a coffee and an orange juice) as soon as the waitress came by. The drinks came out quickly and the coffee was alright, but that's where the positives end. After waiting over half an hour with nothing more than a coffee refill from a busser, we'd had enough. The waitress never even returned. Amidst other diner's hungry sighs and grumbles, we got up to leave. The hostess, who'd done little more than stand behind the cash register drinking water, happened to walk by as we were getting our coats on. I felt it appropriate to let her know we were leaving because we didn't get our food and that $5 was on the table to cover the drinks. All I got was "ok" as she pushed past me to resume her residency behind the counter. No apologies or explanation. Just "ok". I'd like to think this was a random bad day, but judging by the other 'stellar' reviews, I have to believe the only reason this overpriced dive is still in business is because they keep sucking in unsuspecting out-of-towners and the weekend overflow from Simple and Egg Harbor. Avoid.

  • Sara F.

"Meh. I've had better" is the exact way I would describe it. Everything was just edible: not good, not bad, just there. I echo other reviewers who think the price point is off. There's no value there. Breakfast/lunch for three at $45 at a diner???

    (2)
  • Jim P.

If you go in understanding that this is a diner you will be pleasantly surprised. All six of us, kids included, liked our breakfasts. The hashbrowns where crispy, thumbs up! The biscuits and gravy were a flour gravy with spicey sausage, not sausage gravy. However, everyone agreed it was good, although different. My son had steak and eggs, the steak could have been served for dinner, it was good. The only down side was it was kind of pricey for diner food.

    (4)
  • Ralph F.

Way overpriced for what is served. Breakfast (2 adults, 1 child) was $33 and we didn't order booze! Portions and prices are way off - this is a restaurant that's banking on northshore tourist traffic - and fleecing them in the process. Waitstaff was nice, place was clean. That's about the only good thing I could say for them. I left there feeling ripped off. Too many other options close by with better food and fair prices. We won't be back.

  • Allison V.

This place reminded me of the 1950s. It has booths and small diner type tables. Coffee is sitting in open bins near the cash register. They have a sign that clearly states that checks are not accepted....who pays with checks?! I had the turkey club with the tater tot option. We also had an order of chicken tenders. Just like a diner, food was basic, but tasty. The prices were right on. Service was simple and somewhat friendly.

    (4)
  • Brian C.

Simple menu, about average prices, nice and simple decor inside. Coffee was decent. Attentive service. I'd be willing to come back again.

  • Tyler A.

It's a diner, expect diner food and service. Our service was friendly and speedy. Food was acceptable. Hash-browns and bacon done perfect. Omelet packed full of cheese, maybe even too much. Not as bad as everyone says.

  • Steve J.

Literally the worst breakfast my family and I ever had. When the best part of breakfast was the burnt toast you know it was bad. Cold eggs. Cold coffee that was run through the old grounds at least twice. Biscuits and gravy that were supposedly home made but I've had rocks that were tastier. In other words - avoid this place.

    (1)
  • Jacob G.

Terrible service and horrible, overpriced food. What they give you is frozen food out of the box for $10 and they don't even do a good job of cooking it, pathetic.

  • Tammy D.

We waited close to 45 minutes for 4 sandwiches and speggetti, which wouldn't have been a problem if the food was great but it was just ok. The waitress did apologize for the wait in the half full restaurant, saying they were busy earlier in the morning. But upon paying the bill, we were never asked how everything was. Just a complete disappointment. So many other options in the area, wished we would have taken a 5 minute walk to find another option!

A decent breakfast joint. Good service and tasty food. No frills. What more do you want for a quick breakfast that won't break the pockets or destroy your taste-buds?

A group of 10 went to Lake-Aire Restaurant for breakfast on Sunday morning. It's a pretty small restaurant and seems to be understaffed! We waited a very long time to get waited on, get our drinks and the meals. In fact, when the meals arrived, they were all cold. We had to request water, syrup and butter several times until someone brought it. Another couple and their children walked out after being seated and waiting over 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone. VERY SLOW service and NOT worth the wait!!! The only plus was that they added in gratuity and gave us the line item bill (to evenly split up).

Forget it! We went on a Friday for late lunch...about 2:00 p.m. Prices seemed high but we thought we'd see if it was worth it as most of us (party of 5) wanted soup or a salad. Of the 3 who ordered soup only two were served. Our server dashed away before we could ask where the third cup of soup was. The two who were served said that the soup was barely warm. After waiting at least 20 minutes we were watching the kitchen doors where our server was arguing with the cook over a chicken caesar salad (part of our order). She came out with the salads and said that the chicken caesar salad would be out in a moment....as if we and the other handful of diners didn't hear their exchange. Finally my soup came out with the problem salad. Again my soup was barely warm but....I got the bay leaf....lucky me. No refills on the ice tea which was served in small glasses. Bottom line...two of our party thought their salads were good although overpriced (about $10). Never again.

We did a 4 mile walk along the lake, and were desperately hungry by our 1:30PM return. So the main criteria was not crowded, so we could get reasonable food fast. This place was a big disappointment. The service was weird. There were only 3-4 tables occupied, and there were 3-4 waitresses standing in the back talking. But no one greeted us when we walked in, so we sat down. After about 3 minutes with no greeting and no menus, we were about to walk out when one of the chatters brought over the menus. She was friendly, but... The food was mediocre at best. Soup of the day (stuffed green pepper) was pretty good, but the rest was poor. Chili like it came straight out of some cheap can. Tater tots soggy. Sandwiches just OK, at nearly $10. So this is a place to avoid.

we have been coming to Lake Geneva for the last 10 yrs, have always had good service and good food at the Lake-Aire, totally disagree with the other reviews. The restaurant isn't new and trendy but it's perfect for it's location.

  • K T.

Overpriced. Bad food-eggs overcooked. Omelet barely had any of the ingredients it was supposed to come with. Waitress was insincere, superficial.

  • Ryan A.

I was surprised at how expensive the menu was. I have been been here in the past and cannot remember having to spend 9-10 dollars for sandwiches or burgers, but 6-7 for anything on a kids menu was enough for us to get up and leave. If the service was better, maybe we would have stayed, but since not one word was said except "sit wherever" it was enough for us to leave. I'm willing to try it again, but the prices are really alarming...good luck!
